Monterrey, One Wrong Label, and the True Colour of a Transfer Rumour

The file that reached my desk carried a single word on its label — football. Why spend this much space on a wrong label? Because football journalism's worst errors were never made on the pitch. They were made at the top of the file. Which brings the ledger. Every hot take is a hypothesis wearing a deadline. I am writing two predictions down today and dating them 31 December 2026. One: if Nuevo León health or judicial authorities confirm the toxicology of the substance, the word “alleged” will disappear from the coverage; if they do not, the story will go quiet in local pages within two months. Two: in the next transfer window, at least two of the five most-shared football stories will rest on a source with no name, no office and no institution.
